It’s getting really tiring

The entertainment industry’s ‘social circle’ really is funny. From former Friends star Jennifer Aniston and her newest ‘main squeeze’ to actor Tom Cruise and the debate as to whether or not he should be in a mental institution.

What’s even more hilarious is the amount of mind-numbing dribble shows like ‘TMZ’ produce.

Have you seen this show? Basically it’s a bunch of ‘paparrazi’ standing around an office, talking about their experiences with hollywood’s elite. After a couple of minutes of making fun, they then show a clip of this star being hounded by them.

Most of the time, these stars are annoyed and wish nothing more than to be left alone, but considering many of us are thirsty for the latest gossip, they continue until these stars ‘crack’. The clip then ends and the show then throws it back to the men and women in the office laughing and joking about how ridiculous he or she acted.

I happened to check out if the show is doing well in the ratings, and low and behold it is. What a shocker.

Mr. John Loregio’s column this week really is a must-read. He opines on similar subjects, most notably, the show ‘Jon and Kate Plus 8’.

This show is what it is. It's a ‘reality’ television show about a family and their eight children.

But lately, ‘Jon and Kate’ have become so insanely popular due to their failed marriage, it’s beginning to make us look bad.

In a society where people are dying oversees, our economy is going through problems the likes of which many of us never would have imagined, ‘Jon and Kate’ updates are all we see on magazine covers when we go grocery shopping or head to a convenience store to grab the necessary essentials.

Separations or divorces happen all the time. It's a part of life. Yet, we are enamored by this couple, who continually garner attention all over North America and the world for that matter.

It really is sad that we as a society need to flock to internet gossip websites, just to find out whether Jon has a new love in his life.

Don’t we have better things to do with our lives? This family really is going through rough times, there is no ‘acting’. This is not staged.

Now I know what you're going to say. ‘Hey, they signed up for this thing, they should know what they got themselves into.’ Well, that’s partially true. But at a time like this, shouldn’t we look at ourselves in the mirror and just turn a blind eye so to speak? Shouldn’t we just turn the channel and watch a ‘Seinfeld’ rerun?

I get the reality television bit. I’m hooked on a few ‘reality’ shows myself. But finding out whether or not a marriage will work or not is not something I’m interested in.

Ratings tell all people. Turn the channel, give them peace. Hey, if that happened, you’d maybe find out that Farrah Fawcett passed away.
