Letter-Brandon should consider Brandon

Its Time Brandon Considers Brandon

?As a new resident to this wonderful town I was amazed to learn that most major businesses (including the large meat packing plant) in Brandon obtain many of it professional services in Winnipeg or Toronto. I also learned that even the City of Brandon does not believe in investing in our City, that they contract out professional services to Winnipeg. The question I have is why?  We elected our municipal officials to represent our best interests not Winnipeg's.  The Politicians want our votes; well what are you going to do for our community!  The private sector wants our business then you must be solid corporate citizens contributing to the community in a diversity of ways not out sourcing much of your professional work to Winnipeg or Toronto!

Clearly investing in our City from our municipal, provincial & federal levels of government is not an unreasonable expectation. Winnipeg is not the only City in this great Province. There is no reason why we must accept being the permanent bride’s maid and never the bride in this Province.

The brilliant American social activist Sonia Johnson is to have stated: “We must remember that one determined person can make a significant difference, and that a small group of determined people can change the course of history.” Perhaps we need a progressive community movement to ensure our elected officials keep their feet to the fire.  Yes it’s time Brandon considers Brandon!
