Heckles and Hurrahs Nov-12

Hurrah:

More kudos to the City Works department; for its immediate attention and action, where a future problem may have arisen but was corrected in advance on a storm sewer, Assiniboine River connection.  A job well done, considering all the other jobs that may be on your platter before the snows hit.

Heckle:

While walking in the Brandon Hills last Sunday afternoon, we encountered two dogs racing around a corner towards us. One of the dogs, a pit bull, jumped up at me. The owner came around the corner following, exclaiming the dogs were friendly. The dog jumped up at me again. Although I love all dogs, I was startled when the dog ran at me. Please folks, keep your dogs leashed when on public walkways.

Heckle:

A big heckle to the individual who stated that "the official period to wear the poppy begins on the last Friday of October and ends as soon as the Nov. 11th service concludes."  This is totally incorrect.  The poppy may be worn as long after the service as the individual wearing it wishes to do so.  Get your facts straight and no removing them from individuals after the service is concluded.

Heckle:

Am I the only one who hears commercials on television with a significant volume increase? At first it was just a slight increase and now it is slightly above aggravating! Do these high paid ad people not realize that all TVs and cable/dish receivers come with a mute button? Turning the volume up on a commercial is not going to make you notice the product more. It makes me wonder just how stupid the network advertising execs must think we the consumers are.
