On the job — Nancy Strahl

Nancy Strahl

What is your job description?

I am the administrative co-ordinator for  WCGtv community programming  and I work with a lot of volunteers, wonderful people who strongly believe in bringing programming to their communities. We're in 20 communities counting Shilo.

How did you get started?

I started as a casual employee 17 years ago with Westman Communcations Group and learned a tremendous amount on the job and then was hired on after five years with community programming.

What does your job involve?

I do training  and support our volunteers  in their communities.  I track their programming stats for their funding. I work with the volunteers a lot . . . recruiting . . . trying to get new people on board.

What's the best part of the job?

The volunteers. The dedication of the volunteers. I love them.

What are the challenges?

Trying to keep enough volunteers. They put in a tremendous amount of time and effort to their communities. A lot of the non-profit groups are having the same issues, so trying to find volunteers to keep things going.
