WASHINGTON - Michelle Obama will make her first solo trip abroad as first lady next month when she visits Mexico.
The White House says Mrs. Obama will visit Mexico City April 13-15, where she will focus on the issues of education and economic advancement in both the U.S. and Mexico. Mrs. Obama's visit will build on her recent conversations with Mexican first lady Margarita Zavala de Calderon.
Mrs. Obama has accompanied her husband on several international trips since the couple moved into the White House. She and her daughters had been scheduled to travel with the president to Indonesia and Australia next week, but have cancelled their plans now that the trip has been delayed so the president can deal with the health care debate in Washington.
