Reigning player of year Lawrie of Burnaby, B.C., throws perfect game

SEATTLE - Canadian Danielle Lawrie threw her second perfect game of the season and Washington-record third overall, striking out 14 in Washington's 3-0 victory over Miami of Ohio on Thursday in the first home night game in Husky softball history.

The reigning national player of the year, Lawrie (13-0) passed the 1,500-strikeout mark for her career for the top-ranked Huskies (18-1).

The native of Burnaby, B.C., struck out the side in the second and sixth, and fanned at least two in five of the seven innings. She threw just 62 pitches in the game that lasted one hour 36 minutes.
