Action plan needed

No one can deny that Manitoba confronts deep financial challenges. Some sacrifice is necessary. But the strategic process of how this is done will depend how successful a society we will be in the future. It makes no sense to cut in areas where even more social planning is required. As a province we have some of the greatest social need for social support in the country whether it’s the north end of Winnipeg or some northern towns. In terms of demands on our provincial social welfare system all signs are we are a province in social decline with deep-rooted social needs. The demands on government in our province are tremendous.

We are in need of an aggressive provincial industrial action plan to support our province with its heavy social responsibilities. We need the private sector cow, fat and healthy. For without a strong industrial sector, government will be forced to cut that which can ill afford to be cut.
