The candidates for Brandon council are starting to come forward.
Here are some questions you may want to ask the candidates when they come knocking on your door..
How many times will you revisit an issue? Past councils have become famous, or infamous, for going back and reviewing their decision on an issue.
Will you wear the green jacket, which is given to councillors, to meetings? The jacket does make a fashion statement, just what it is, is still being debated by local fashion experts.
What is your position on air service and should the runway be used as a drag strip when airplanes aren't landing there?
Will you give millions to stage another sporting event in the city?
Are you in favour of building another firehall, if warranted, and would it be fast tracked?
Why is it some of us can't wait to get away from it all when the weekend comes, only to go to an area where everyone has decided “is the place to get away”?
Some campsites and cottage areas have more temporary residents than downtown Brandon has on any given day. Perhaps city council should look at creating a camping greenspace in the core area a s a way of getting people to visit.
It's a debate that will continue...Would you like Brandon to fog for mosquitos or spend your outside summer time wrapped in mosquito netting or swatting the little pests as you try to enjoy the backyard or balcony?
Once again mother nature is proving that she is one lady that is always unpredictable.
What seemed to be a good start to the farming season, is anything but, for a lot of farmers.
Just a thought from an urban dweller. With all this rain, has anyone thought of growing rice?
The kids have been out of school for about two weeks now... How many times have you heard the phrase “ I have nothing to do?”
On the subject of kids, a study shows that if they spend more than the recommended time , per day, watching TV or playing online video games, they will have trouble concentrating at school.
No word if the study was done by a non parent who has never been left alone with the kids.
( Aw c'mon, you know you have left the kids in front of the TV at least once because it keeps them quiet... one heckuva good babysitter)
Millions of litres of oil have flowed into the Gulf of Mexico and yet, unlike potential disasters in past years, oil companies haven't used it as an excuse to jack up the price of gasoline.
Can you say PR disaster?
