The Reston Rockets will now take on the Brandon Cloverleafs after sweeping the Neepawa Farmers in MSBL action.
In Game 1 of the series, Reston jumped out to a 5 - 1 lead after two complete innings with Luis Avilla on the mound. Rockets scored five runs in the first inning.
However, the game ended in a controversially in the third inning after Farmer manager Garth White, and two players were ejected leading to a forfeiture for insufficient players.
In Game 2 in Neepawa, the Rockets got behind the Farmers 4 - 1 before the eighth inning. In the eighth, the Rockets sent nine batters to the plate scoring five runs to go ahead 6 - 4.
The Rockets completed the sweep with a 5 - 1 victory in front of a large crowd. Reston jumped out 2-0 in the first inning and blew the game open with three runs in the eighth with RBIs going to Tony Isbell on a solo home run to left centre.
Game 1 of the MSBL best-of-seven final series begins Sunday, Aug. 8 in Reston. Game 2 will be held in Brandon on Aug. 10; Game 3 on August 13 in Reston with Game 4 Sunday, Aug. 15 in Brandon. Game 5, if necessary will go Aug. 17 in Reston.
