RICHMOND, B.C. - Space technology company MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (TSX: MDA) has extended a logistics contract with the Canadian Space Agency for an additional $14.7 million.

The company, better known as MDA, said Friday that it signed the contract amendment to provide logistics and engineering services for the agency's mobile servicing system.

The extension will last through March 2013 and brings the total value of the contract to $152.7 million.

The mobile servicing system, which includes Canadarm2, was developed under contract to the CSA as Canada’s contribution to the International Space Station.

It provides support for visiting vehicles and ongoing maintenance.

MDA's main businesses include specialized data, surveillance and intelligence, communication systems and advanced technology.
