Cypress River is tuning up to get ready for their first annual Prairie Wind Music Festival which will be held this Saturday, June 2nd.
The Prairie Wind Music Festival is a non-profit volunteer driven festival organized by the Cypress River Resource Centre. All profits made from this weekend’s event will be used for other community projects.
Rock, blues, country, old time and jazz - this small but mighty music festival is aiming to present a diverse blend of music in their tiny town while holding out for a little intimacy, uniqueness and hospitality.
With something for everyone, Cypress River wants to celebrate the joys of music and community uniting.
The line-up is unique, full of local, provincial and national talent. You’ll be hearing from Alexander McCowan and Erik Roy, Rob Waddell, The Magnificent 7s, The Sweet Alibi’s and many more.
The Prairie Wind Music Festival would be a great place to take the kids this weekend. There will be children’s entertainment available along with a play area and face painting.
The main sponsor for the Prairie Wind Music Festival is Sunrise Credit Union with grants from the RM of Victoria, the RM of South Cypress and Cypress River and Area Foundation.
Tickets can be purchased ahead of time by calling (204)827-2706 or (204)743-2240 or you can purchase them at the gate upon arrival. Ticket pricing along with the full line-up can be found at prairiewindmusicfest.wordpress.com.
There will be food served canteen style throughout the day with an all you can eat pulled pork BBQ in the evening, also including a vegetarian alternative.
And if you’re thinking about camping, it’s free! There are unserviced campsites with fire pits available for free for festival attendees.
The Prairie Wind Music Festival is all ready to go for this weekend but they could always use more volunteers. To volunteer, or if you have any questions, email prairiewindmusicfest@gmail.com.
