Brandon Flying Club to host a ‘Fly-In Drive-In’ breakfast

The Brandon Flying Club is having a special on sightseeing flights over Brandon. For only $75, three people can enjoy half an hour of a unique view of the Wheat City.

The Brandon Flying Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and interest of flying around the Westman area, and on July 28 they are holding a special breakfast event to bring people out to the club.
“We are holding a ‘fly-in drive-in’ breakfast later this month,” said Robin Blecker, Board Executive Assistant for the Brandon Flying Club.
“For only $5 a person, people from anywhere are welcome to stop in and get a great pancake breakfast. Since we are non-profit, we will probably lose some money putting on this event, but it will be worth it to show off some of the displays and planes we have here. It’s really about promotion of aviation and education.”
The BFC holds fly-ins every year, with each one being different from the last, but Blecker says this is the first time she is organizing one.
“I’m flying by the seat of my pants,” laughed Blecker.
“But our goal is to start having events like this more and more often. We are banking on roughly 50-80 people at this breakfast, but it really depends on how the weather goes. I have been told that a few years ago they got 100 people who flew in.”
There will also be a 50/50 draw taking place at the breakfast to help the club regain some of the costs of the food.
“We’re also having a special deal on sightseeing flights right now,” said Blecker.
“For only $75, which is $10 off the regular cost, three people can take a 30 minute flight above the city. It’s really neat to see Brandon from a different perspective like that, and hopefully it can help plant the flying bug in a few people.”
Sightseeing flights with the BFC must be booked in advance, which can be done by emailing info@brandonflyingclub.com or by calling 728-7691.
