Eat for the kids

The Dock’s Jamie Munro, Ramon Nikkel and Darren Burdeniuk display the four-leaf clovers that could win you and five guests a custom-catered meal prepared by executive chef Nikkel.

What happens when The Dock on Princess teams up with the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation?

You get a great meal and can help kids at the same time.

The two have combined for Give Up The Green. The Dock General Manager Jamie Munro says it’s a fundraising campaign with all proceeds going to the wish list at the pediatric unit and the neonatal intensive care unit the Brandon Regional Health Centre.  Munro says that they discussed where their efforts should be focussed and the staff decided it should benefit kids.

The process is simple. You make a donation and are given a four-leaf clover in exchange. A donation of $10 or more will make you eligible for the grand prize. Munro says that there will be a custom-catered meal and refreshments for the winner and five guests, with the meal prepared by executive chef Ramon Nikkel. The winner will be announced on St Patrick’s Day. The winner and guests will enjoy their all-expense paid evening the following Friday. Smaller donations will see patrons given a donor reward that can be redeemed at The Dock. Munro says, “In our heart of hearts, we’re hoping for $10,000, but we’d be happy to see anything go to the BHRC.”

Four-leaf clovers are also available at The Dock’s partners, which include Vanguard Credit Union, BDO Dunwoody, Forbidden Flavours, Leon’s and the BRHC foundation office.

The Dock owner Darren Burdeniuk says that it’s important for them to be part of the community and that they are looking at doing something like this on a regular basis.

BRHC Foundation Director of Development Karen Chrest says, “We are so grateful for the support of The Dock on Princess and its patrons. It’s exciting to see businesses like this step forward to create events that benefit our BRHC Foundation. Jamie and the staff have been so enthusiastic about this fundraiser and are just wonderful community partners!”
