Bobcats Add Manitoban Middle

The Brandon Bobcats (BU) Men’s Volleyball team didn’t have to look far to find their newest recruit. The club announced earlier this week the addition of 6’5” middle Samuel Jackman from Morris, MB.

"It hasn't always been a goal but when the opportunity to play at the U SPORTS level presented itself I made it my goal to play for a strong university team, and BU is just that," shared Jackman. "Seeing the facility and the team and all BU has to offer me as a young athlete, I was quite impressed with their national record and wanted to be a part of a program like that. Now I look forward to learning from the current veterans on the team and hopefully in the future aiding them to a Canada West championship."

Jackman recently earned a silver medal at the 17U Volleyball Manitoba Provincials with fellow recruit Max Brook. He also won the “Best of the West” tournament this past spring and is a member of the Manitoba Beach Volleyball team.

Not only is he a star on the volleyball court, but Jackman is a threat for success in many sports. Last year he posted a 97 point game vs. the Souris Sabres in a high school basketball game.

"Sam is a tremendous athlete. He's strong, quick, jumps well and has a lot of upsides," said Bobcats coach Grant Wilson. "He gained some valuable experience in club volleyball this past season by playing with one of the best 17U club teams in the country and now if he continues to dedicate himself to being the best he can be, he has a very bright future."

Jackman joins fellow incoming athletes Liam Nohr of Brandon and Winnipeggers Nathan Dyck and Brook. Jackman plans to enroll in BU's Bachelor of Business Administration program.
