The Assiniboine Community College (ACC) Cougars women’s soccer team has added some more homegrown Manitoban talent to the roster.
Minnedosa’s Telecia Dowsett has committed to the Cougars for the upcoming season and has enrolled in the Business Administration program in the fall.
The 5’6” goalkeeper previously played high school soccer with the Minnedosa Collegiate Chancellors and spent time with various club teams including the Minnedosa Lakers, the Westman Football Club, and the Minnedosa Kaos.
“I was interested in Assiniboine Community College because Brandon is a familiar community,” says Dowsett. “The smaller class sizes of programs also attracted me to the college.”
Cougars Head Coach Mark Murray is excited to have her on board.
“Telecia is an exciting prospect that myself and the other coaches here at Assiniboine are really looking forward to working with,” says Murray. “She brings a winning mentality with her from her success at the high school level, and her talent will be a great addition to our squad.”
Dowsett was a part of three provincial medal winning teams with the Chancellors, winning gold in 2016 & 2017 while earning a bronze in 2015. SHe was also named to the provincial all-star team in 2015 and 2016.
“I love soccer because playing goal is really fun and it’s a great way to meet new people,” says Dowsett. “I’m nervous to play with a whole new group of people for the first time in my six years of being a goaltender.”
