Poplar Ridge Golf Course Exceptional Scenery and Course

The beautiful Poplar Ridge Golf Course (PRGC) spans out over 6,642 yards and resides a half a mile south of Riding Mountain National Park. The golf experience at Poplar Ridge is second to none, with the tremendous golfing experience and the beautiful scenery.

“The fairways and most of the greens wintered well, but unfortunately the long winter took its toll on three greens,” said Director of Golf Lavern Popple. “They are recovering nicely though and will be back in form shortly.”

The course, which opened in 2009, was designed as a links-style course. Many golfers thought it was a tough one, and the course was reshaped to meet all the golfer's needs; beginner, casual, or avid player. The course now consists of a mixture of open links style and wooded parkland holes.

“The course has added a new white tee on # 1 to shorten the hole and raised the tee on # 8 to give a better view of the tee shot and elevate it out of the lake,” shared Popple. “We also removed some trees on # 18 to give more room on the layup (it’s a par 5) or give a better view if you attempt to go for the green in 2.”

The course will provide challenges with changes in elevation and lots of water and wildlife to get your skills polished up.

This year, Poplar Ridge Golf Course is starting a new event in conjunction with Clear Lake Golf Course. The new event will run for six weeks and is called Riding Mountain Skins Game.

“It is every second Friday starting on June 29 at poplar ridge and alternates venues after that,” shared Popple. “Details can be seen online at golfpoplaridge.com or clearlakegofcourse.com, but the grand prizes which are going to drawn at the year-end event are a chance for a one week trip to Mexico and a one week trip to Palm Springs. Players are automatically entered each time they play in an event. Our Senior Men’s tournament is our biggest in-house tournament, and that happens Wednesday, July 25.”

This year, the Monday Special is offered again – it is $33 a person and includes the cart. Since this is a poplar special, it is recommended to book in advance.

“Our daily rate is $65 cart included,  $70 cart included on weekends, $50 cart included with cart after one any day and $39 after four carts included…” said Popple. “We will once again be hosting the Tamarack cubs tournament August 20 and 22, information available on the Tamarack website. Visit our website for details on other events such as Men’s/ Ladies night and our other tournaments.”
